How The Gym Can Be A Great Social Setting

What is the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the word “gym”? Do you think of a place that is full of grunts and pumping iron?

The gym is a great environment for many reasons; a place to be better, a place to be stronger, and a place to be greater where people come in to train and work.

But the gym is also a place where people can meet. Where people can come to see that they are not the only ones that have health and fitness goals. The gym is common ground for individuals where they’re all dissatisfied with where they are and they are striving to be better. Discovering that you’re not the only one trying to lose the fat that you gained over lockdown, or trying to get that 100kg bench is like the feeling that you and another person support the same sporting team that isn’t going too well in the season haha. This helps people create a bond and relationships. Who knew that having the same interests can help make friends?! (That was sarcastic btw lol).

You know what’s good after a workout? A good ol’ fashioned chat. The amount of times that people I have observed people have a conversation for such a long time just cause they happened to be training and finishing at the same time. This can normally lead to a cuppa or a feed after which is always nice after a hard workout (or not so hard). But the gym is also a place to meet up and reconnect with old friends. Setting up gym dates has become a normal thing today where old friends can catch up over a workout and then eat after. Can not get any more wholesome than that amirite?

Don’t underestimate a great gym environment. It can lead to so many social opportunities for you to meet new people or reconnect with old ones. I personally think that this is great for health and well being as being surrounded by a healthy environment can get you greater overall results.
